Did you notice loading bar images on various websites that try to sell you something? Like the featured image of this post.
It’s from the order flow of LadyBoss, an 8-figure per year brand.
One thing they do we haven’t seen any other e-commerce brand do so far is providing a loading bar graphic to increase the average order value.
Why loading bar works
There are a couple of reasons:
- You choose 2-3 incentives and order value targets. For example, free shipping at orders over $50, free samples of a new product at $100.
- You mark them on the loading bar.
- Once the visitor goes to their cart, they see the loading bar and their status.
It’s a simple idea which more stores should test…
How to test progress bars?
There’s almost always something you can do, even if you are a one-product store. Some ideas of what the targets could be:
- Free delivery.
- Entering a giveaway for a related product (Peloton, MacBook Pro, or others).
- Exclusive membership for a group or community.
- An ebook.
- Free samples of a pre-launch product.
Test out the loading bar and increase your average order value.
