How X is growing, some feature changes, and why you might need to rethink your international strategy

It doesn’t yet have a billion active users, but…

Elon’s got receipts: X just hit $1B in annual subscription revenue, driven largely by interest in its Grok AI tools.

The platform now claims over 600M monthly active users, with Musk projecting a path to 1B daily actives as X expands into payments and communications.

Long-form content is working, too. Articles published on X jumped 10x, with reading up 17x.

So you’ve got a maturing platform with a paying audience and growing engagement. Sounds promising, especially if you’re targeting users who value AI tools and premium features.

And listen up: X appears to be testing Audio Articles, a feature that could let users embed audio in posts or share podcasts directly in timelines.

…And also open new formats for brand storytelling.

And in darker news, X has removed the Dim theme from its iOS app. RIP to everyone’s favorite midnight scroll setting.

Meta just lost a whole country’s reach: Russia has blocked WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram, cutting off over 100M users as it pushes citizens onto the government-owned Max app.

The move follows earlier restrictions on LinkedIn, X, and TikTok.

If you’re running campaigns in this market, your reach has diminished. Reassess your international strategy and consider where your audience might migrate.
