Three AI ad formats that stop the scroll and drive sales

AI ads ain’t nothing new. In fact, they’re one of the fastest ways to test creatives.

We did. And the crucial thing we learned is that social feeds don’t reward “pretty.” They reward ads that stop the thumb.

That’s what you can build with AI. Formats that are bigger, weirder, more cinematic, and more premium than most brands can produce the traditional way. No three-week production timeline.

One combo punching above its weight right now: ChatGPT and Seedance 2.

In this issue, we’re bringing you three AI ad formats already performing on social and worth testing now. Before your competitors catch on.

01

Product showcase ad: launch a product without a studio, crew, or shoot

Product showcase works because it shows what you’re selling. Instantly.

The viewer sees the box, the product, the details, the feature, and the brand vibe right away. You don’t need to throw an abstract hook or “wait until the end” reveal.

For e-commerce, it’s one of the easiest formats to test, because one product gives you a high-end version, a dynamic version, a tech-focused version, and a lifestyle version.

In practice, GPT Image 2 builds the ideal key visual or storyboard, and Seedance 2 turns it into a 15-second cinematic-scale video asset.

Do it now:

  • Upload your base material: Take a few photos of your product and drop them into ChatGPT as your starting point.
  • Build the grid: Ask GPT to create a professional 3×3 grid with the key details that matter most to you. (Example here)
  • Generate the video prompt: Once the storyboard’s ready, have AI prepare a video prompt. Example below:

Create a premium cinematic product showcase video based on the uploaded 3×3 reference image. Use the same fictional flagship smartphone, the same matte black NOVA X1 packaging, the same dark graphite color palette, and the same luxury tech brand identity [read more…]

  • Run it through Seedance: Paste the finished prompt into Seedance 2 along with the storyboard image.
  • Test in volume: Build several scenarios so you can find the winning creatives through A/B testing.

Fact: In an experiment with more than 21,000 consumers, AI video ads lifted CTR by +9.4% over personalized display ads, and +6.5 points over generic video ads, while production costs dropped by around 90%.

02

Character-led ad: turn your brand character into a mini video ad

This format earns its keep when you want to promote a business, service, or product in a way people actually remember.

Instead of another stock-style shot of a smiling customer, you build your own character—like Chef Tattico—who becomes the face of the whole campaign.

First, in GPT Image 2, you build a full character board: the look, facial expressions, poses, props, colors, brand vibe, and a few action scenes.

Then you take the strongest piece and turn it into a short Seedance 2 video where the character performs one signature move.

The payoff: the viewer doesn’t feel like they’re watching “a company ad.” They’re watching a short scene with a character they can actually remember.

Step by step:

  • Build a character that fits the brand: For an Italian restaurant, a funny pasta master. For an ad agency, a creative director. For a pet store, an overly elegant dog consultant.
  • Ask for a full concept board: Don’t settle for one image. Request front view, side view, back view, facial expressions, action poses, tools, colors, props, and a mini scene sequence.
  • Give the character a clear role: Chef Tattico isn’t just “a chef.” He’s a “pasta strategy maestro”. That one detail hands the ad its personality. (Example here)
  • Show one specific action: Here, rolling the dough, making pasta, cooking it, adding sauce, and serving the final plate. Far better than random movement with no story.
  • Guide the animation step by step: The Seedance prompt should walk through the sequence. Use this as a reference:

Using the provided reference image, create a 15-second stylized 3D animated cooking video featuring the same character: Chef Tattico, a funny elderly Italian pasta master with a big round belly, balding head, gray hair on the sides, thick curled mustache, expressive eyebrows, warm eyes, cream chef outfit with red and green Italian accents, red waist sash, and charming grandfather-like personality. This one scales easily once it works. Build the character once, then bring it back in future ads, seasonal campaigns, menus, Reels, Meta ads, TikToks, and website assets.

Fact: Reuters reported that Mondelez (owner of Oreo, Milka, and Chips Ahoy) is rolling out a generative AI tool for ad production to shorten the process and cut marketing costs.

The company estimates it could reduce ad production costs by 30–50%, after an investment of more than $40M.

03

Oversized product: Turn the product into a set piece people stop for

Oversized product is one of the most scroll-stopping formats because it breaks scale. A small serum bottle suddenly becomes human-sized. A cream jar reads like a piece of minimalist furniture. A cosmetic tube stands next to a model like part of a luxury set.

The product is no longer just something in the ad. It becomes the ad.

This one works especially well for beauty, fashion, supplements, perfumes, accessories, and cinematic products, because it communicates one thing instantly: this is the hero.

And here’s the kicker—for this format, GPT Image 2 is enough. No animation needed.

Playbook:

  • Pick one hero product: One strong product looks more premium than a chaotic collection.
  • Choose hero shot or collage: A hero shot suits 4:5 ads and landing pages. A 3×3 collage is better for a full product line, multiple use cases, or a more consistent brand world.
  • Make the scale obvious: The product should be clearly larger than normal packaging, ideally compared against a person, a hand, a chair, a podium, or an interior element.
  • Keep the model in a supporting role: Their job is scale, lifestyle, and aspiration. The product stays the star.
  • Use our sample prompt: We showed several different versions of this image type:

Create a high-end luxury skincare advertising collage in a premium editorial fashion campaign style. The image should be a square 1:1 multi-panel composition with rounded corners and clean cream-colored dividers between panels. [read more…]

  • Add safe margins: In 4:5 and 9:16 ads, keep text and key visuals away from the edges; platforms may crop them.
  • Test different directions: The winning creative is the one that drives the most sales.

TL;DR

Three AI ad formats are pulling ahead right now. Here’s how to run each one.

  • Product showcase presents your product like a major launch—the box, the details, the camera movement, the special feel—without a traditional shoot.
  • Character-led ads turn your brand into a memorable mini scene with a character you can scale across ads, Reels, and campaigns.
  • Oversized product makes the product the main set piece—bigger, more striking, and much harder to scroll past.

The key point: the goal isn’t to make the ad look “like AI.” The goal is to make the viewer instantly understand what they’re looking at and give them a reason to stay a few seconds longer.
