SNAPACHAT
Video is changing
During the pandemic, the way people watched video content changed a lot. Yes, there’s the obvious one – we all binged way too many TV shows – but there are some more subtle changes that might improve your advertising.
Snapchat just released some data on video consumption patterns during 2020, and we think you’ll find some of the stats interesting. Here are the highlights:
- 61% of people are watching more videos on social media apps. As social media continues to expand its share of time in people’s lives, those people are watching more videos. Consider video ads as an increasingly important part of your strategy this year.
- Consider the motivations of your audience. Snapchat looked into the neuroscience behind videos, and found that one of the strongest drivers was shareable content.
You can geek out on all the numbers in Snapchat’s full report here. Suffice to say, video content is more important than ever, and people are starting to figure out what types of videos they truly enjoy.
An update and an outage
If you’re looking to improve your brand’s reach on LinkedIn, you’ll probably want to check out yesterday’s update. It was announced on the LinkedIn business blog, and it features a couple of things:
- There are new content curation options. This is helpful if you have employees. The new ‘My Company’ page will allow you to create content for your team to see, and share.
- There’s also a new analytics feature. As part of the program to help leverage your employees’ networks on LinkedIn, there’s a fresh analytics section that’ll help you to figure out how well you’re expanding your reach with the new tools.
That’s not all. Yesterday, LinkedIn experienced an outage that some of you may have noticed. It was brief, though, and the platform is back online. So for all you LinkedIn thought leaders out there, now’s your time to shine.

Ruthless negotiating tips from Felix Dennis
Negotiation is part of our life.
And if you’re in business, then being able to negotiate becomes a money-making skill. And Cole Schafer from Honey Copy just listed 18 ruthless negotiation tips that Felix Dennis included in his book.
If you’ve never heard about Felix Dennis, he built a media empire over the past century and pioneered computer and hobbyist magazine publishing in the United Kingdom.
Here are some of our favorite tips from Cole’s piece, and our thoughts:
+ Remember that few are good at negotiating (this includes your opponent). This means that, if you can do it right, you’ll be head and shoulders above your biggest competitors.
+ Don’t negotiate unless you have to. People usually feel the need to “get a good deal” on everything, including in business. To set yourself apart, don’t try to wheel and deal your way through every job you get.
+ If you’re a bad negotiator, don’t attend. You make the decisions but someone else deals the blows. It’s better to accept the fact that you’re not a great negotiator than it is to lose out on a deal. So, if that’s you, let someone negotiate who’s a master of the craft.
+ Do your homework – what you don’t know could kill you. Make sure you know everything there is to know about a client or customer before you dive headfirst into the sticky process of negotiations.
There are 14 more tips in Cole’s full piece here, if you want to check that out. Now, get out there and enjoy upgraded negotiating.

Where’s George Costanza?
If we mention the classic video game, Frogger, it’s likely that one of two things come to mind:
- The classic video game, Frogger.
- That one scene from Seinfeld, featuring George Costanza crossing a busy New York Street, Frogger-style.
Well, as it turns out, Peacock is turning Frogger into a fast-paced reality TV show. We’re not sure exactly what it’ll look like yet, but we can say one thing for sure: Let’s hope Jason Alexander makes an appearance at some point.
