Can you imagine raking in $100B?
Alphabet can. The company saw serious growth in Q3:
- Google Search ad revenue jumped 15% year-over-year (YoY).
- YouTube’s ad revenue hit $10B, and its subscription businesses generated $13B.
Interestingly enough, YouTube Premium is one of the two leading subscriptions for Alphabet’s 300M subscribers, yet that doesn’t seem to have affected ad revenue at all.
Definitely good news for YouTube and advertisers. Hopefully this has translated over to your results, too.
Lifting the hood on YouTube’s numbers: Users now watch over a billion hours of content on TV screens every day, and the platform holds the top streaming position by watch time in the US.
To help marketers and creators capitalize on this, YouTube is releasing new CTV features like thumbnail file limits expansion for 4K resolution and adding immersive video previews on channel pages, among other features.
Keep in mind, CTV audiences behave differently from mobile scrollers. They’re leaned back, focused, and ready to engage with longer-form content.
And since YouTube now commands almost as much watch time as Netflix and Disney+ combined, it’s a legitimate competitor to traditional TV buys.
So optimize your thumbnails, test your content on big screens, and start thinking about YouTube as your new TV network, not simply another social channel.
