… And by “more” we mean much, much more.
CPMs might be high, but: A recent study revealed that even though Android users outnumber iPhone users by four times worldwide, iPhone users spend at least seven times more on apps.
Wow.
It makes sense though. iPhone users are the majority in the US, and Apple’s device is the go-to for wealthier demographics overall.
The study also divided global revenue per user by the global user number. Guess how much revenue one user makes
- iPhone monthly revenue per user: $10.40.
- Android monthly revenue per user: $1.40.
That’s not including subscriptions to Apple services, by the way.
Now if only downloads matched: A separate report shows that App Store app downloads are slowing down in the US.
Still, the drop is not significant enough to cause a major impact—and it’s not affecting all apps the same way.
Sports streaming, education, productivity, and shopping apps are still seeing decent growth.
Oh, and revenue is up. The App Store’s Mobile Revenue Index is 36.4% higher this year than in 2018, showing that it’s still as lucrative as ever.
So if you’re targeting iOS users and your boss or a client complains about high CPMs… just show them this study.
It should give you some leeway.
