New tools for better engagement, and maybe an easier X exit?

… Or should we say Xit?

Ahem, anyway. Threads just rolled out several new features, namely:

  • Topic tags. Add them to your profile to boost real-time engagement.
  • Reply controls. Choose who can interact with your posts to better manage your public image.
  • A video upgrade—improved navigation for more relevant conversations.

Looks like Meta’s doing its best to make Threads a more conversational space. Nice!

Pro tip: Meta revealed in its announcement that “posts that include a topic generally receive more views than those that don’t,” so keep this in mind if you want to see more engagement.

And if switching from X has been holding you back…

You might appreciate this development: Threads is reportedly working on a tool that lets you follow the same Threads profiles you do on X.

So basically you would be able to download data from X and upload it to Threads. Though, since it’s not automated, there’s no guarantee of a perfect match.

Just so you’re aware.

Google’s reps spent a month insisting the August 17 bidding update wouldn’t change much. The data disagrees. Turns out bid suppression was subsidizing you. Mike Ryan’s numbers show CPCs climbing for budget-limited campaigns, with the cheap clicks they used to win now flowing to uncapped competitors. Google also confirmed the rollout finished globally on August…
