More users, more revenue, more global expansion

Pinterest had a strong quarter.

People just love to mood board: Monthly users jumped by 17M to 570M, the biggest increase in five quarters, and revenue rose 16% year over year (YoY).

The surge is thanks in part to improved tools, and the fact that Pinterest has become a go-to for shoppers.

Of course, its user growth requires some important context:

  • Pinterest is picking up steam in markets like Japan and India, but it’s not seeing much revenue there yet.
  • The platform is growing across age groups, but especially among Gen Z.
  • 80% of users are outside the US, so there’s clear global potential.

Also, its ad experience is getting an AI boost. Pinterest is adding features like Performance+ and in-stream discovery to improve the user journey.

Pinterest is becoming a solid top of funnel platform—one study found 36% of people begin searches on it—and may be good for social shopping, too, depending on your target market and demographic.

So if you’re targeting Gen Z, and you’re not using it yet, you might want to start.
