Shopify breaks Black Friday records, while online shoppers hold out for deals

“This will be the best year for holiday sales!” “Shoppers are spending less and budgeting!”

Which one is it? We’re as confused as you are.

At one point, Shopify was scoring $4.2M per minute! Stand-out industries include clothing, personal care, and jewelry.

The top-selling countries were the US, the UK, and Canada, with the leading cities being Los Angeles, New York, and London.

On the flip side, Reuters confirmed that US shoppers are still strategically pursuing the best deals.

Consumers are still being patient online, digging up discounts of around 30%, and spending about $16.4B in the US and $70.9B globally.

It will be interesting to see how things go today…
