In case you missed it, TikTok has no intention to sell. So if the bill goes to court and loses, marketers in the US will have to kiss it goodbye in about a year.
Once again, if it’s your main platform, it might be a good idea to look into alternatives just in case.
Outside of the US, however, things are pretty good for TikTok. There are 142M reported users in the EU, and the numbers are growing.
Germany, Italy, and France each have around 20M users, the most of all the European nations.
Good to know if you target those countries.
Also, Snap’s Q1 results are in: Revenue is finally up 21% year over year (YoY), with most of it coming from US and EU users.
Daily active users hit 422M, a 10% increase. Unfortunately, it seems most of these users are not from the US and the EU, which is important to note if you’re using the platform.
But on the flip side, view time of its Spotlight feature jumped 125% YoY. And that raises an interesting question…
Will we see a surge in Snapchat downloads? When TikTok was banned in India in 2020, Snapchat downloads doubled in the region.
Of course, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts weren’t knocking around yet. But still, all those users have to go somewhere…
