YouTube and eBay increase shopping capabilities

Spring is here, and for many people, that means it’s time for a whole new wardrobe.

So naturally, YouTube is dropping several new Shopping features:

  • Shopping Collection allows creators to make shoppable collections based on a theme. Once they add relevant products, they will appear in their product list, Store tab, or in a video description.
  • Affiliate Hub will list new Shopping partners, competitive commission rates, and promo codes, making it easier to connect brands and creators.
  • Fourthwall integration is YouTube’s shop builder alternative to Shopify, Spreadshop, and Spring.

If you’re working with influencers, these new tools could be worth playing around with.

Also, remember when magazines would show a picture of a celebrity and tell you where you could find similar versions of their clothes?

eBay’s bringing this back with its AI-powered iOS app feature called “Shop the look.”

Based on a user’s shopping history, the platform will display carousels of outfits to US and UK users and link to where they can find similar items. Cool!

If you sell fashion on eBay, maybe you’ll see a surge in product views. One can hope, right?
