TikTok is feeling pressure in the US and the EU, and Meta AI is pulling from Google Search

Some people just can’t catch a break.

Exhibit A: While a ban marches from the US Congress to the Senate, TikTok faces yet another threat across the pond.

The EU has opened its second investigation into the platform, this time due to the “addictive effect” of TikTok Lite’s Rewards program—especially for younger users.

There haven’t been any confirmed violations of the Digital Services Act (DSA) yet… but if TikTok is found to be in breach, it could raise new problems for the app in Europe.

Yet another thing to be aware of if you’re running TikTok Ads in the EU.

In other news, it seems searches via Meta AI can now feature Google Search results.

It makes sense on paper. After all, a decent percentage of users now begin their searches on certain social media platforms.

Unfortunately, this doesn’t offer much of a solution to the traffic challenge facing SEOs when it comes to AI-assisted search… sigh.
