Just as you get friendly with one API, it leaves you on read…
… And you have to get to know another: Google Ads API version 22 is out now, and it comes with AI-powered asset generation, new bidding for app campaigns, and better Performance Max controls.
All of these tools offer smarter creative testing and tighter campaign control, but only if you upgrade your client libraries. Make sure you read the full release notes here.
Is Reddit killing your blog? Turns out Google has actively adjusted its ranking algorithm to prioritize short-form video and user-generated content.
Yes, this content now takes precedent over traditional sites, especially for younger audiences.
… Which means a random Reddit thread or TikTok video will likely take precedence over your perfectly optimized blog post. Quality and technical SEO alone won’t cut it anymore.
And you can no longer blame AI for bad performance: Google claims ad revenue is stable because AI is boosting overall search volume, even with fewer clicks on some queries.
So, despite the panic, AI Overviews aren’t killing ads. Or so Google says.
That said, commercial searches still require action. The AI can’t buy the shoes… yet. Users might be clicking less frequently now, but they’re still converting, so don’t shut off your ads.
And one more thing: AI-generated responses in “People also ask” have jumped from 18% to 38% in just three months. Whew.
This means your traditional featured snippet strategies may need a serious retooling because AI-generated answers take up more of that prime real estate.
Always something, huh?
