Does the G in Google stand for glitch?
Makes you think: On June 25, local SEOs began reporting steep drops in impressions and clicks from their Google Business Profiles (GBP).
Multiple posts in the Local Search Forum confirmed the drop across different verticals and locations.
Is this the June core update? Maybe not. It seems consensus is leaning toward a data/reporting bug, not a ranking shakeup.
For one thing, the June 2025 core update didn’t start until June 30, so this problem predates any core update-related activity.
For another, one user saw declines on both desktop and mobile while another noted that engagement metrics stayed steady, even as visibility tanked. Classic glitch behavior.
Also, there was no major volatility typical of ranking changes, just vanishing data in GBP performance reports.
And we have official word, kind of: A Google Product Expert confirmed in the forum thread that this is a “known glitch” and Google is working on restoring the data.
So if your local impressions fell off a cliff starting June 25, you’re not alone, and it’s probably not your SEO. Hopefully Google fixes this soon…
