Is the TikTok hype slowly coming to an end?
Maybe: According to Sensor Tower, the platform’s growth is slowing down, dropping from 12% in 2022 to 3% in 2023.
… And there’s speculation over whether TikTok Shop is to blame.
Why? Well, the dip in growth coincides with the launch of Shop in the US. Some creators say it has become an “ad-filled wasteland.”
Now, to be fair, the TikTok Shop Seller app has also grown 230% year on year (YoY). But with only 6M monthly active users compared to TikTok’s 1.4B, there’s still a ways to go.
Will people start heading to Instagram Reels for fewer ads?
Who knows. But if you’re selling on TikTok, this is definitely a trend to keep an eye on.
