TikTok throws punches while searches continue to grow

“You ban, we sue.” —TikTok, basically.

Is this allowed? ByteDance—TikTok’s owner company—is suing the US government, arguing that a ban violates the US Constitution, and that there isn’t enough evidence of wrongdoing.

And no, selling is still not an option.

ByteDance says handing its platform over to a new owner would require moving an insane amount of software code.

So, maybe TikTok has time. Which is good, because…

More people are using TikTok like a search engine: The social media’s core user base is growing older and 29% of them log on specifically to search for brands.

Also, 41% think searching on TikTok is entertaining, and 28% think it’s authentic.

And of the people who found what they were looking for on TikTok via search, 91% followed through on it.

So if you sell tangible products, and you’re hoping to increase your reach, you should consider using the platform, even for just a year.

Or maybe longer. Who knows how this whole TikTok thing will end.
