How to analyze comments and reviews and flesh out your ideal customer persona

One of the most effective ways to create your ideal customer or client persona (ICP) is to flesh it out with customer research.

And one of the best ways to do that? Analyzing your comments and reviews.

Here’s how:

Step 1: Export all your social media comments.

This includes all the comments on your Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook accounts, and any other accounts that you may have.

To do this, you have to either download a third-party app, or write down all the feedback manually.

For Facebook, you should be able to export comments in the Accounts Center.

Step 2: Export all your reviews.

These could be website reviews or reviews hosted on third-party platforms like Trustpilot.

Step 3: Throw them into Chat GPT.

Here are some prompts you can use to manipulate your data:

  • Analyze the sentiment of these Instagram comments to identify overall customer sentiment towards our latest product launch.
  • Determine the ratio of positive to negative sentiments in this set of customer reviews.
  • Identify recurring themes or keywords in these comments that indicate customer preferences or common issues.

“But what if my brand doesn’t have any feedback yet?” Look at your competitor’s comments and reviews, and follow the same steps above.

What angles, features, and needs are they not serving? That’s where you can come in.

There you have it. Use this data to make your ICP more clear and actionable. Good luck!
