Bluesky overtakes X and Threads for referral traffic, and Facebook updates traffic campaigns

The new kid on the block is already the favorite.

For some people, anyway: It seems Bluesky outpaces X in referral traffic for certain brands.

For example, The Guardian claims Bluesky drove more referral traffic in its first week on the platform than any week in 2024 from X.

It also delivered twice as many visits and 4.5x more conversions than Threads.

Of course, this is just one publisher. It could be a very different story for other users.

The bigger question is: How long will this organic traffic last?

In loosely related news, Facebook’s traffic campaigns now let you send traffic to your Facebook or Instagram pages, or both.

Previously, you could only direct people to Instagram.

Unlike Bluesky, it seems Facebook wants you to pay for traffic rather than getting it organically.

But if you don’t have a website to send people to, or you want to increase awareness for a new profile, this could come in handy.
