Ban creeps closer

It’s now a Senate decision away.

The bill that could stop app stores hosting TikTok in the US has been passed with a majority vote in the House—and will now head to the Senate.

However, it remains unclear whether the bill will pass the Senate. All in all, you can expect a lot of rumors and uncertainty in the coming weeks.

The platform could be saved if the parent company ByteDance sells within five months. Quite the decision.

Why is this happening: The US is concerned that ByteDance poses a national security threat despite the company explicitly saying they don’t take or use any user data.

Nothing is certain but if TikTok is the platform you placed your chips on, you may want to keep your eyes on this story.

While we await for the final decision, here’s some “regular” TikTok news: The platform announced a new way for advertisers to track campaign performance in Apple’s SKAdNetwork (SKAN).

This should make TikTok easier to collect data post-iOS 14 update.

How? By building a SKAN framework into TikTok Ads Manager. It will give you more data via iOS actions despite the lack of app tracking.

It’s pretty technical but if you’re interested in diving deeper into your data, you could always check out this manual to get you up to speed.
