Is Facebook coming out of its flop era?
… Because it was the most downloaded app in March. And the reason is pretty interesting…
When Facebook went down for a few hours, users downloaded the app from Google Play—which accounted for 88% of the new downloads—to see if it worked there.
So most Facebookers are web users. Interesting.
Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp, and Telegram made the rest of the top five, but you probably already knew that.
Speaking of Instagram, the platform brought in over $32.4B in 2021. Meanwhile, YouTube gained just under $29B the same year.
And it’s not the first time Instagram has out-earned YouTube, either.
Why? Maybe because ads tend to be less intrusive and more tailored to users’ interests on Instagram, making for a better shopping experience.
If you’re using both channels, it might be worth putting a little more money and effort into Instagram and seeing what happens.
And finally, while February wasn’t a friend to X, March looked better in terms of revenues.
Revenue was 4% higher than it was in January 2023, and despite the drop following the rebrand from Twitter to X, revenues have been steadily climbing since September of last year.
Now, downloads haven’t really grown much, but this is fairly reassuring news if you use X and you’ve been worried about platform health and user engagement.
Speaking of engagement…
